“It isn’t just helping clients with their property loss. It’s helping them recover from major damage to probably their single largest investment. People count on me to get them back into their home. They count on our expertise to get their business rebuilt and up and running as soon as possible. Those are my challenges.

“I’ve been in this business for over 25 years. My summer job during college was inventory, appraisals, and building estimates for a local adjusting firm. I learned from one of the best, a retired manager from General Adjustment Bureau.

“I tell people who’ve suffered a property loss, there’s no substitute for experience. There’s no learning curve for us when it comes to dealing with the complicated claims process. We’re experts and we’ll take the burden off their shoulders.

“It all comes down to this: I can get them into their homes or have their businesses up and running sooner than if they went it alone. I love it when my clients are fully recovered, their lives back in order. It’s truly a great feeling.”

Chris graduated from Hudson Valley College with a degree in Banking, Insurance, and Real Estate in 1986. For the last 24 years he has practiced nationally as a public adjuster licensed and bonded in the states of NY, CT. FL, GA, SC, NC, DE, DC, LA, MS, ME, and VT.

He has extensive insurance claim and financial knowledge. He’s lectured, has authored articles, and appeared in public information forums on television and media. He has also provided expert witness testimony on numerous occasions.

Chris has represented clients throughout the country during major flood, hurricane, and tornado catastrophes. That includes claims after Hurricanes Opal, Fran, Marilyn, Isabel, Ivan, Dennis, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. He also handled claims resulting from the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

As a licensed public adjuster and loss consultant, he has prepared commercial and residential building reconstruction and personal property evaluations. He’s represented owners of hotels, condominiums, restaurants, retail, school and municipalities for their property, stock, and business interruption losses.

Chris currently serves as President of the Utica City School District’s Board of Education. Also, as an elected member of the Board, he is Chairman of the Utica School District’s Capital Project Committee that oversees the district’s 186 million dollar Capital Improvement project. He serves as co-chairman of the Utica School District’s Health and Safety Committee and Building and Grounds Committee.

He is a board member of the Utica Municipal Housing Authority and the City of Utica Master Planning Committee. Chris also served as Honorary Chairman of the National Congressional Business Advisory Council.

He likes to fish, hunt, and ride his Harley. He lives in Utica, New York with his wife Kimberly and three children.

“It seems that it was meant to be that I got into public adjusting.
When I was around 7 years old, my 5-year-old neighbor burned his
parents’ garage down playing with matches. My neighbors hired a
public adjuster who did such a good job for them, they decided to start a public adjusting firm themselves.

“My neighbors formed Public Adjusters Corporation in Albany and I ended up working for them from junior high through high school. I helped with stock losses in warehouses, clothing stores, and even a candy warehouse. (We really enjoyed counting all that candy!)

“I’ve gotten to know the insurance policies backward and forward. People don’t realize that’s it up to them to prove their loss. I approach the insurance company with a complete knowledge of the insurance contract. I know what to ask for and I know what to look for in the insurance policies.

“This puts my clients at a significant advantage over claimants who go it alone. And I work with a wonderful team of dedicated experts who can handle any claim thrown at them. My clients couldn’t ask for a better group of professionals to represent them after a major property loss.”

John apprenticed with Public Adjusting Corporation in Albany, New York starting when he was just 18 years old. Two years later, in 1983, he became a licensed public adjuster with the firm. After Public Adjusting Corporation, Mr. Ryan was a principle with Sanders & Ryan Associates, Albany, NY.

In October of 2003, he joined partner Chris Salatino in starting their new company, Claim Solutions.  He is licensed and bonded in the states of NY, CA, CT, Fl, MA, ME, NC, SC, VT., and GA.

He has helped clients with major property losses from hurricanes Hugo, Andrew, George, Isabel, Charlie, Ivan, Dennis, Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike. In 1991 he did residential work at the Oakland Hills Wildfire, in 1994 residential and commercial losses after the Northridge Earthquake, and commercial projects after the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York City.

When not adjusting claims, John is usually working on construction projects at home. He loves building things, making things better. He lives with his wife Maryellen and two children in Latham, New York.
